Members of RA NA Armenia-Poland Friendship Group Meet with Parliamentary Delegation Arrived from Poland
1 / 4

On March 19, the members of the RA NA Armenia-Poland Friendship Group met with the delegation of the Foreign and European Union Affairs Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Poland. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Armenia Paweł Cieplak attended the meeting.

Welcoming his Polish colleagues, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Poland Friendship Group Vahan Harutyunyan highlighted the development of the inter-parliamentary ties and noted that the RA NA President’s visit to Poland in the previous year in October gave a new impetus to the relations. Highly assessing the Armenian-Polish relations, Vahan Harutyunyan thanked the Polish MPs for the adoption of the resolutions on the 650th anniversary of the special privileges given to the Armenians by the King of Poland Casimir (Kazimierz) III the Great, as well as on Recognition of the Armenian Genocide in 2005 by the Sejm of Poland.

To Vahan Harutyunyan’s assessment, there is great potential to develop the cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, health care, tourism, military industry, for which the Group is ready to contribute its efforts.

The members of the Friendship Group emphasized the balanced position of Poland in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, underlining that the Armenian side sees the settlement of the problem exclusively by the peaceful solution within the frameworks of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The ratification process of the RA-EU relations and the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership between the RA-EU Agreement signed on November 24, 2017 was also touched upon.

The Chairman of the Foreign and European Union Affairs Committee of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Marek Rocki noted that the RA-EU Agreement would be ratified in the shortest term by the parliament of Poland.

The guests especially emphasized the deepening of the trade-economic ties with Armenia and the encouragement of the investments. The Polish parliamentarians expressed willingness to support our country, presenting the experience of Poland on the way of integration to the European Union.

Distinct directions concerning the cooperation were discussed.
